Elicit Pro, great for research

I signed up for Elicit Pro last month and it's been pretty solid for my literature reviews. The automated screening feature saved me a ton of time, easily cutting my initial paper sifting down by half. I had a small question about the Custom Workflows and used their in-app chat. Support got back to me within a few hours, which was nice, and they clearly explained how to set up a specific workflow I needed. The paper summarization is accurate enough for a first pass, though I always double-check key findings. Delivery of the service itself was instant, obviously, since it's software. Overall, a really good tool for academic work.

Worked fine, got my work done

I used Elicit's Paper Summarization for a bunch of articles last week. It did what it said it would. No fuss, no drama. Just uploaded the PDFs and got the summaries. It felt pretty straightforward. Good tool for what I needed.

Useful, some small issues

I tried the Elicit Plus plan for a project involving Evidence Synthesis. It's quite useful for organizing papers and I liked the Data Extraction Tool. It made pulling out specific info much faster. However, I found the interface for Concept Mapping a bit clunky at times, not always intuitive to connect ideas. Also, I tried to apply a student discount during checkout and it took a couple tries to get it to register correctly. But once that was sorted, the price was good. The core features work well, and it definitely helped streamline my research process.

Good value with annual discount

I was looking for a research tool and decided on Elicit. I went with the Elicit Pro annual subscription to get the discount, which saved me a decent chunk of money compared to monthly. I also made sure to use an academic discount code I found online, which worked at checkout. The price for what you get, especially with those savings, felt totally worth it. The Systematic Review Automation has already paid for itself in time saved.

Love this research assistant!

Oh my goodness, Elicit is amazing! I got the Elicit Plus plan and it has totally changed how I do my research. The AI Literature Review is so fast, it finds everything I need. I used the PDF Analysis a lot and it just works. I will absolutely be using Elicit again for my next big paper. You have to try it!

Thinking of trying Elicit for my literature review. Is it actually good for systematic reviews or just general paper summarizing?

J Jason N. 2 weeks ago
It's decent for sure, especially for getting a quick overview and finding relevant papers. For a full-on systematic review, you'll still need to do some manual screening, but it cuts down the initial legwork a lot.

P Patricia Brown 2 weeks ago
I found it really helped with the initial screening phase. Like, it won't replace a human completely for systematic reviews, but it seriously speeds things up. Saves tons of time on identifying key themes.

What's the deal with refunds? Say I sign up for a month and it's not for me, can I get my money back?

P Patricia Scott 1 month ago
I don't think they do refunds easily, usually it's more like you can cancel anytime, but you're probably out for the current billing period you paid for. Check their terms, though.

E Emily L. 1 month ago
Afaik, you can cancel your subscription whenever, but they don't typically offer pro-rated refunds for the unused portion of a billing cycle. So if you pay for a month, you'll have access for that month.

where do you even put the coupon code when you're checking out? can't seem to find the box.

J Justin W. 1 month ago
It usually pops up during the checkout flow, somewhere near where you pick your plan or enter payment details. Keep an eye out for a 'promo code' or 'discount code' field.

Should be on the payment page, just before you confirm everything. Sometimes it's a small link you have to click to reveal the box.

Anyone know how much data you can actually extract with this thing, like per month or whatever? Is there a limit?

M Matt W. 4 weeks ago
Yeah, there are limits, depends on your plan. Basic has the lowest, and Pro/Enterprise obviously give you way more. It's usually tied to the number of papers you process or queries you make.

A Adam D. 3 weeks ago
They definitely have caps on data extraction and paper analysis, it's one of the main differences between their plans. You'd need to check the specific plan details on their site to see the exact numbers.

Can you actually use promo codes on the annual subscription plans? Or is it just for monthly?

Z Zach Campbell 1 week ago
Yup, definitely for annual. I used one for my first year and got a pretty sweet discount. Usually better value that way.
2
M Michelle Brown 5 days ago
Most codes apply to the first year of an annual sub, yeah. It's usually a better deal than monthly in the long run anyway.

is the 'basic' plan any good, or do you really need Plus to get anything useful done?

E Emma R. 1 week ago
Basic is fine for trying it out and some lighter tasks, but if you're doing serious literature reviews or need more queries/data extraction, Plus is definitely worth it. Basic limits your usage pretty fast.
4
N Nick Martinez 6 days ago
Basic gives you a taste, but if you're serious, you'll hit limits pretty quick on the paper analysis and query counts. Plus opens up a lot more features and capacity.

hey, was wondering if anyone knows if Elicit has a student discount? trying to save some money on tools for my thesis.

J Jacob Moore 2 weeks ago
Yeah, they do! I got one when I signed up last semester. Just check their site, usually a link for academic pricing.

M Mary Nguyen 2 weeks ago
Pretty sure most academic tools offer that. Elicit definitely should. Worth looking into before you commit to a full price.

Does anyone know if Elicit works for teams? Like, if I want to share my workspace with my lab mates?

M Michelle Phillips 2 weeks ago
They totally have team accounts. My research group uses it, makes collaborating on projects way easier.

J Jason Turner 2 weeks ago
Yep, it's a feature. I think it's part of their higher-tier plans, like Pro or Enterprise, but you can definitely set up shared workspaces.
